Your first session is about getting to know each other and understanding what brought you in. Your therapist will ask about your current symptoms, your history, what you’ve tried before and what you’re hoping to get out of treatment. You don’t need to have a polished narrative prepared or know exactly what’s wrong. Most people come in knowing they don’t feel right and needing help figuring out why. That’s enough. By the end of the first session, your therapist will share their initial impressions and outline a recommended approach. You’ll leave with a sense of what treatment will look like and what comes next.
