For years I couldn’t decide if I wanted to be a teacher or a therapist. I went back and forth through most of my education, majoring in psychology and minoring in education, convinced I’d eventually land on one or the other. Social work wasn’t even on my radar until I applied for MSW programs, and looking back, it was the best decision I almost didn’t make. It gave me a way to combine both instincts – the part of me that loves helping kids learn and grow, and the part that wants to understand what’s going on underneath when they’re struggling.

I’m Danielle, and I think there’s something special about each stage of growing up.

Young children are making sense of the world around them and teenagers are making sense of themselves and who they want to be. A seven-year-old and a seventeen-year-old need completely different approaches and language, but both deserve a therapist who sees them as equally capable of doing meaningful work.

One misconception that frustrates me is the idea that children can’t understand complex ideas or that they’re too young to work on real goals. In my experience, kids have the capacity to understand far more than most adults give them credit for. They just need someone willing to explain it in a way that connects to their world. That patience and creativity is what I bring into every session.

I work with children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and families.

My focus areas include emotional regulation, behavior management, family dynamics, ADHD, and anxiety, though I’m always expanding my clinical toolkit. Most of my experience is with kids, but I’ve loved collaborating with parents and school staff, and I’m growing my work with adults who are navigating their own versions of the same struggles their children face.

Parents have thanked me for how much I follow up and check in between sessions, and the kids I work with tell me they have fun. Hearing a client say that something we tried is working, watching them make healthier decisions on their own, or hearing them say they’re proud of themselves are the moments that tell me I’m in the right field.

I’ve been a dancer my whole life and I still take classes to stay active. Dance taught me to stay curious and open to learning, and I carry that same energy into my clinical work. I’m early in my career and I’m honest about that. I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I’m deeply invested in growing alongside my clients and finding what works best for each person in front of me.

If something in your life feels like it needs to change but the idea of changing it feels overwhelming, I get that. Change is scary partly because it’s hard to imagine your life looking different from the way it does right now. But if you’re here and there’s something you want to tackle, we’ll figure it out together. And if we try something that doesn’t work, we’ll change it up. Nothing is set in stone. The only thing I ask is that you stay curious about yourself. That’s where all the good stuff starts.
