What to Expect

Mental Health Assessment

During your first appointment, your IMHS provider will have a conversation with you about the challenges you’re facing and the symptoms you’re experiencing. Any relevant history is also useful information to discuss at that time.

This assessment is not a therapy appointment and we won’t ask you to discuss any details beyond your comfort level.

We understand you may find it difficult to discuss distressing events with a stranger — but we assure you — the highly skilled team at IMHS is committed to creating a non-judgmental environment where you feel valued and supported even if you find it challenging to open up.

The assessment allows your provider to develop an individualized treatment plan tailored to you using: your unique medical history, your current symptoms, any medications you currently take or have tried in the past, your personal circumstances, and your goals for treatment.

Medication Management

Each person’s body chemistry is unique. At IMHS, we understand individuals may respond differently to various medications. Medication management is not one-size-fits-all. We tailor your medication treatment plan to suit your specific needs. 

We won’t write you a prescription and leave you to fend for yourself. Once a medication is prescribed, your provider will ensure that the medication is not causing unpleasant side effects and over time is creating the desired result of your treatment plan.

Consistent and Collaborative Care

Our clinicians provide continuity of care by scheduling consistent follow-up visits, coordinating with your other healthcare professionals, and ensuring smooth transitions between different stages of treatment.

Psychiatric medications can play a crucial role in stabilizing symptoms and preventing recurrences of mental health conditions. Communication with your therapist can assist our team in making necessary medication adjustments, provide ongoing medication management, and reduce the likelihood of recurrence. We will only speak to your therapist with your consent.
